GRIP

In 2006, I was 512 lbs. by 2008 I was 135. #Grip is a book I wrote about a harrowing time in my life in which I basically hit rock bottom.

At the bottom of this self manifested hole, I found myself… Tattered, emaciated, and deeply emotionally scarred.

However, throughout this entire chapter the diegetic music of Taylor Swift kept me hopeful enough to find the resiliency to make it through my injury and my eating disorder.

I hope someday she is able to read this book and truly understand the impact she had on my life, and how thankful I am to have discovered her music.

Thank you, Taylor.

May you enjoy this book, and, hopefully soon, enjoy the film adaptation.

Inspired by my weight loss journey from 512 to 135 lbs, “GRIP” is the story of Declan Gardner. Narrated through a series of flashbacks during his stint in rehab, “GRIP” offers a look into the life of a, morbidly obese, gay, Hispanic teenager growing up in the American Bible Belt.
